Privacy Policy of Fomo

At Fomo, we take your privacy very seriously. We know that legal texts can seem cold or difficult, but here we explain it clearly and without fine print. This privacy policy tells you what data we collect, why we do it, and what you can do about it, whether you use the app or publish your events through the web.

2. Who is behind Fomo?
Fomo is a personal project by Ángela Redondo Rodríguez, developer and legal data controller residing in Galicia, Spain.
3. If you use the Fomo app...
3.1. What data do we collect?
When you register or use the app, we store:
- Your name, surname, and email address
- Your password, encrypted (nobody can see it)
- Your favorite categories to recommend events
- Your approximate location to show you nearby events
- An identifier of your device to be able to send you notifications
- Your favorite language among the available options
- Your saved events in the app
- Your discarded events in the app
3.2. What do we use your data for?
- To allow you to create an account and access the app
- To show you events that may interest you
- To send you push notifications if you allow it
- To save your favorite events and discard those that do not interest you
- To respond if you write to the support team
3.3. Who do we share this information with?
We use trusted external services that process your data according to European regulations:
- Firebase (Google): To authenticate you via Google and send you notifications.
- Mailgun: To send you emails.
- Heroku and Postgres: To store your data and the events published in the platform.
3.4. How long do we keep your data?
As long as you have an active account. If you decide to delete your account, we will securely delete your data.
3.5. What rights do you have?
You can ask us at any time:
- To see what data we have about you
- To correct incorrect data
- To delete your data and your account
- To object to the processing of your data
- To withdraw your consent
4. If you publish events from the web platform...
4.1. What data do we ask for?
To give you access to publish your events, we only ask for your email address.
Then, when publishing the event, we ask for:- Event title and description
- Event images (optional, but recommended)
- Event category
- Event date, dates, or time range
- If it is an event aimed at children
- Event price
- Event location
- Links related to the event (optional)
4.2. How do we use this data?
We use your email to send you a unique code with which you can publish your events. This code has a limit on the number of events and expires after a few days. It also allows us to check if you have already used your 5 free events of the month.
The event data is used for:- Checking if a similar event already exists (to avoid duplicates)
- Publishing it in the app
- Notifying you by email when it is published
4.3. Buy events
If you decide to buy events (individual, in packs, or featured), we use the Stripe service for payment. Fomo does not see or store your bank details; Stripe manages that directly.
We only keep your email and how many events you have bought or used.4.4. Who do we share this information with?
Only with the necessary services to make everything work:
- Stripe: To manage payments
- Mailgun: To send you emails
- Our server (Heroku) and database (PostgreSQL)
4.5. How long is it stored?
Your data is stored automatically; if you want us to delete it, just write to us.
5. About security
We take care of your data with love. We use encryption, secure connections (HTTPS), and restricted access to data.
Only the people in charge of maintaining Fomo can see it when necessary.6. Changes to this policy
If we change something important, we will let you know from the app, the web, or by email. You can always check the latest version here.
